Abstract EN

This study has attempted to explore spiral of silence theory in the Yemeni context, to determine the extent to which respondents are willing to express their views publicly on government performance.

A number of newspapers for month were analyzed.

A survey was conducted, (106) participants have responded to the survey.

The study attempted to find out the dominant opinion in the Yemeni press, reference groups, and society, and the way the influence the public opinion.

The findings showed that respondents' willingness to express their opinion has not been affected by their perception of Yemeni newspapers trend.

However, it has been influenced by two main factors: the dominant trend in reference groups and society.

This finding refers to the importance of personal communication face to face among members of society, and its impact on shaping their attitudes and judgments on issues and the dynamics of public opinion.
