Abstract EN
Scorpion stings are frequently dealt with in the pediatric units especially in the summer months.
The course of the illness is usually smooth, but in this case report, a rare complication of scorpion sting is presented.
We report a case of necrotising fasciitis as a complication of a scorpion sting in an 18-day-old male neonate who was managed at Princess Haya Hospital in Aqaba in September 2005.
Reports of necrotising fasciitis following scorpion stings are rare.
A presentation of the case with the method of treatment are described and review of the literature are discussed.
This report emphasizes that scorpion sting among neonates should be taken seriously as it may lead to threatening complications.
