Abstract EN

Provided that Allah says “We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption)” [Noble Quran 15: 9], Quran is preserved from each side as no falsehood can approach it from before or behind since Allah provides preservers to protect the Qur’an from everywhere.

Consequently, this paper seeks to highlight the role of traditional Qur’anic schools of Hausa land in Nigeria in saving Uthmanic calligraphy written in Moroccan calligraphy.

The paper starts with simple definitions of traditional Qur’anic schools in Nigeria, and then the concept Uthmanic and Moroccan calligraphy.

Finally, the paper sorts out the contributions of Qur’anic schools in preserving Uthmanic calligraphy in Hausa land with adopting descriptive and historical method in the research.

The main finding of the paper is that Nigerian traditional Qur’anic schools generally and Hausa land particularly contributed in preserving the Quran in response to the verse aforementioned.
