Abstract EN

The study aimed at determining social, cultural, economic and demographic features for the families of children with diabetes at King Khalid University Hospital in Riyadh city.

The researcher used the analytical descriptive methodology with a sample of 60 patients whom selected purposefully by the whole listing of all families of children with diabetes visiting king Khalid university hospital in Riyadh.

The survey was divided into two parts: first part: independent variables of the study that included social, economic and demographic features of the study sample.

The second part contained closed-ended questions about the social and cultural factors affecting on the view of the community towards children with diabetics that affects the patients’ family.

The study concluded to a huge variance in the response of study sample towards social factors determining the view towards families of children with diabetes.

The responses represented mainly that the parents bear the main part of taking the responsibility of taking care of their child and worrying about child’s future.

Moreover, results showed a great deal of variance in the responses of study sample on the cultural factors determining the view of the families of children with diabetes specifically reading all topics related to diabetes and its effects on children, trying to inform their child to be more aware of his disease, providing medical care to their child like giving him insulin and providing him with first aid services.
