Abstract EN

This paper aims to examine the causal relationship between public spending and economic growth in Algeria during the period of time from 1970 to 2017, by analysing the interpretive theories of the relationship between the two variables, namely, the Wagner Law, which considers that causality is moving from economic growth to Public spending.

keynesian theories, which see a positive causal relationship from public spending to economic growth, and to understand the forces behind the change in public spending and its impact on economic growth should be studied.

In this research, we studied the long-term relationship between public spending and economic growth in Algeria during the period 1970-2017, where results showed a long-term balance between public spending and economic growth, and with a causal relationship in both directions.
