Abstract EN

The Ottoman Empire exercised its authority over the Arab states - including Algeria - through a system in which it relied mainly on three basic elements: the appointment of the governor general (the governor - the pasha), and the sending of Janissary soldiers (the military force) and the qadi (the religious representative), but The gradual weakening of the sultan's institutions, led to the weakening of the central government's control over the states, and thus the emergence of trends rejecting the central authority whenever circumstances permitted.

This study is concerned with monitoring the various peculiarities that characterized the political system of the state of Algeria during the second phase of the rule of the deys (1710-1830), which allowed the continuation of the formal Ottoman sovereignty.
