The level of satisfaction ofemployees in the government sector plays an important role in their profitability and productivity.

Therefore, developed and many developing countries have attached great importance to human resources, with a focus on employee satisfaction, which has a positive impact on their job performance and the public sector in general.

In this context, a questionnaire was prepared in the Arab Planning Institute to measure the satisfaction of a sample of employees from Arab countries about their work in government institutions, to identify the main difficulties affecting their performance, as well as their suggestions for improving their productivity.

The results showed that the most of respondents expressed their satisfaction.

For others, the main reasons behind their dissatisfaction are the absence of a clear job description, low wages, marginalization and exclusion, or the nature of their job which is not commensurate with their specialization or scientific degree, or the way of obtaining promotions that don’t depend on competence.

The most important suggestions to raise the level of satisfaction of employees focused mainly on intensifying specialized training courses for human resources in central and local government institutions, raising the value of wages, and motivation by linking promotions with efficiency, excellence and merit.
