Abstract EN

The research aims to shed light on a phenomenon that had spread widely in the old city of Baghdad and it had the main role in the birth of of the first seeds of the intellectual arousal , literature wise , politically and culturally.

That is; the old cafes of Baghdad that embraced within their walls brilliant names in the sky of literature, intellect and politics.

As they found a spacious room for their voices to loudly call for freedom , and a call for modernization and to get rid of bureaucracy and retardation appearances.

The research paused for long on the most famous and the most effective of these cafes in the literature and cultural movement and tracing its evolution and development since the beginning of the 20th century until the end of the 60s of the last century , naming most famous of their goers (clients) of poets, writers and politics.

These cafes are like Alzahawi café in Alrasheed street which named after its most famous client, the poet Jameel Sidkee Alzahawi.

And Hassan Ajmee café which was the set point of crowd demonstrations led by the great poet Mohamah Mahdi Aljawahiri.

And Albaraziliah café which represents a theatre for the formation movement ( altashkelyiah) on the hands of Jawad Saleem and Faiq Hassan, and many other cafes that still engraved in the memory of awareness of the popular Iraqis.

Because of their relation with moments of revolutionary struggle.

And with the moments of launching the modernization movement in poetry and literature.
