The current study scrutinizes and examines the impact of military coups in Turkey on the Turkish political landscape since the beginning of democratization process.

The study problem revolves around the following question: What is the impact of military coups occurred in Turkey after the advent of democratization process on the political scene? The study aims to identify the reasons that led the army to mount coups under the shadow of democratization process, and the extent of damage to democratization process in Turkey.

The study concludes that the Turkish army, before the arrival of Justice and Development party to power, had a significant influence on political landscape in Turkey, particularly in the democratization stage.
