Abstract EN
This article is an attempt to highlight the main differences in perspectives between the Western liberal legal systems and the Islamic tradition, on the issue of freedom of expression and its limits.
It follows the heated controversies over the issue ignited in the aftermath of the artistic and journalistic productions in western countries deemed offensive to the religion of Islam and its prophet Mohamed PBUH.
The main focus is on the liberal concept of ' the right to offend' and how it is approached in the Islamic context.
