Abstract EN

This study examined the assessment of noise levels in educational institutions, the female campus of King Saud University in Riyadh was adopted as a case study.

The objectives of this study were measuring noise levels at the female campus, then comparing noise levels with international standards, produce noise map for female campus.

This study depended on using measuring noise device “Sound Level Meter” for outer Points and using “Noise capture” app.

on the smart phones to measure the internal points, and analysis these measurements using Geographic information techniques; then produce the maps that showed the distribution and the contrast of noise pollution inside and outside the female campus.

The main results for this study showed that: the female campus registers high levels of noise between 35.2- 80 dB (A) which exceeded the MOMRA “Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs” standards.

The highest levels were in Education College humanities sections and Computer College from Science sections.

The central library registers high levels of noise which reach up to 61.6 dB (A).

The noise in outer points were between 67 – 80 dB (A .)This study recommends the need to develop technical solutions and awareness to reduce the noise levels in the female campus and to conduct further studies to measure its impact on the educational achievement and health of female campus students and staff.
