Abstract EN
Cultural identity is regarded as one of many factors that influence the learning process of second language.
As we all know that identity is rooted within someone‟s doctrine, so it is hard to exclude this concept from language learning process.
Grossber and McRobbie (2000) assert that cultural identity can be defined as one shared culture, a sort of a collective where ‟one true self‟ is hiding in a collective society with many other superficial ones (p.
256).
However, language learning in Western societies has its own impact on learners because of the way of teaching language is absolutely different than it is done in their native countries.
For example, teachers may discuss a topic which is considered to be a taboo one religiously or socially.
This research will present an argument about certain factors that affect the learning process such as cultural differences, culture shock, negative stereotypes, ethnicity, …etc.
One of the findings of this research is that the relationship between language and cultural identity cannot be separated.
The researcher suggests that educational institution should include topics about learners‟ cultures.
