Abstract EN
The current research examined the effectiveness of the visual thinking strategy in developing EFL writing skills.
Participants were 50 fifth graders at a public primary school in North Sinai.
They were randomly selected and divided into a control group and an experimental one.
The quasi-experimental pretest- posttest design was used.
Both groups were pre tested and post tested on The EFL Writing Test, developed by the researcher.
The experimental group received three units based on the visual thinking strategy, while the control group received the same units using the traditional teaching method.
Results showed that the experimental group outperformed the control one on the post administration of the writing test and visual thinking strategy had a large effect size (d=2.756).
