Stock market manipulation has appeared in economic transactions, leaving a bad effect on the financial situation of the speculators, because these transactions are not real; rather they are false dealings that have transformed the stock market into gambling clubs.

Some people win what others lose; the winners are few and the losers so many.

Some speculators buy without paying and others sell what they do not own in the first place.

Thus, “speculative” financial economy dominated real economy.

The present study illustrates stock market manipulation, its types, and the attitude of the Islamic jurisprudence towards each of them.

The present research paper consists of an introduction, a preface, four sections, and a conclusion.

The introduction presents the research plan and the research method.

The preface defines stock market manipulation and its types.

The first section introduces the three types of financial contracts (derivatives): futures contracts, options, and forwards.

The second section discusses the meaning of short selling and the attitude of Islamic Shari‛ah towards it.

The third section explains the meaning of purchasing with a margin account and the attitude of the Islamic Shari‛ah towards it.

Finally, the conclusion introduces the findings of the study.
