The use of Re-tainning materials for the treatment of vegetable tanned leather : article review

Different leather artifacts in museums and libraries are exposed to different deterioration factors such as variation in humidity and temperature, Light Irradiation, Mechanical damage and biological factors like microorganisms and insects.

According to these factors, leather artifacts loss their mechanical properties, and became weak.

This study aims to make a survey on the re-tanning materials used for the treatment of vegetable tanned leather artifacts, explain the advantages and disadvantages of these materials and methods of their evaluations will be detected.
