The aim of this study is to highlight the role of the green economy in achieving sustainable development as a fundamental requirement.

This paper presents the most relevant basic concepts.

The green economy is a clean energy economy and aims to achieve human well-being, preserve the environment, optimize the use of its resources, achieve economic and social prosperity, and serve as an important tool for sustainable development through the exploitation of renewable energies, green buildings, water and waste management and sustainable transport.

The environment must be well exploited, the right to these resources for present and future generations, and the promotion of economic activity and social justice.

Thus, it is clear that the green economy is a fundamental pillar that supports and contributes significantly to sustainable development.

This has been demonstrated by successful experiences in many countries around the world and Algeria, although it seeks to provide the legal and institutional framework and initiative for some projects, but it has not yet achieved better results compared to its natural and human resources.
