Historically, stylistics has attempted to pursue a critical approach that seeks to study and examine literary texts and analyze them by relying on the linguistic fabric from which the text is formed.

this approach has yielded fruitful results in revealing the functions of the language and the manifestations of the meaning intended from it.

stylistics was ambitious in disregarding external factors and dealing with the text in an objective manner.

in this sense, it took upon itself the task of dealing directly with the text through three levels: phonological, syntactic, and semantic (lexical).

the present research paper accordingly attempts to investigate a contemporary Algerian discourse represented in the poem of Abu-al-Qasim Khammar’s Intikam.

we raise the problematic of the extent at which the stylistic lens can create or produce an aesthetic effect in the poetic discourse.
