Abstract EN

The objective of this study is to highlight the importance of Algeria in the view of the french, especially after its colonisation in 1830.

The doors were widely opened for all the french campaign, especially after the development of the romantic movement in France.

Algeria early became an activity site for French orientalism and coinciding with the military as well as political campaign, convoys of orientalists, artists and writers dashed to discover Algeria's secrets and treasures, hence they were amazed by the beauty of its nature and its deserts, and among the French artists who had been influenced with such beauty and enrivhed the French art, we find: de la Croix, Horace Vernet, Frederic Chacerio, Albert Le Bourget, and Eugene Fromentin, taking advantage of everything related to Islamic moniments from palaces, buildingd and museums.

And so as to know the extent of French artists and orientalists 'interest in Algeria, we decided to implement the descriptive analytical method of research, relying on the historical material available to us.

Eventually, we concluded that France, during its colonization of Algeria, bet on its orientalists and artists as much it bet on its armies, accompanying its campaigns, providing it with all the necessary services, expertise and information.
