Huckleberry Finn is Mark Twain's most controversial novel which is a work rich of linguistic variation where seven varieties of language are used.
Through dialect employment the author intends to characterize his characters and shape their social traits.
To deal with dialect characters speech, an analytic approach is used to dissect the different dialects employed and move later to analyse how is dialect attributed to dialect characters in the novel.
The aim of this research is to highlight the function of literary dialect as a means of characterization, and how speech forms authentically describe the social idendity.
