Abstract EN

The present research investigates the duality of antonyms phenomenonin the poetry of Mahmoud Al-Braikan.

This phenomenon has been remarkably recognized as a stylistic print in his poetry.

The dual antonyms enriched Al-Braikan’s poetic texts with multiple significances that create a debate between reality and the self as it struggles in life.

The abundance of dualities in the literary text is a sign of its rhythmical harmony and its openness to more than one axes.

The study investigated two types of dual antonyms in Al-Braikan’s poetry, they are: single word dual antonyms between two nouns like (life/death, reality/dream, light/darkness, existence/ inexistence, the self/ the other), and dual antonyms in nominal phrases like (Homogeneous nuggets/Scattered nuggets).

The study concluded that Al-Braikan’s poetic experience is peculiarly known for its multiple poetic features whose availability varies from one text to another, yet they never fail to show in any of his poems
