Abstract EN

We aim through this modest study to address the topic of the prisoners food system which was applied in prisons and detention centers as being one of the important political and social matters in the history of the Islamic West countries on the anthropological level.

Although the sources exposed several issues related to prisons and prisoners; they neglected an essential aspect of the prisoner's life inside his lockup.

Therefore, we seek, through the information provided by the various sources, to identify the anthropological approaches of the most important food systems that prisoners were accustomed to during their life in prison, and try to classify the most important foods and beverages that prisoners were allowed to eat.
