The importance of the study comes from knowing the effectiveness of penal policy in Algerian law in reducing the rate of crime, especially with the development of crimes.

The study concludes that despite the amendements defined by the Algerian Penal Code; the index of all types of crimes is on the rise, This calls for the search for alternatives penalties to imprisonment.
