Abstract EN

This research will describe multilingualism in Arab Countries, which do not have official recognition of a second language in the whole country or in parts of it, in spite of the wide use of that language.

It studies the real use of language in Saudi Arabia as a study case.

The research was divided into four sections that discuss the study case.

It will attempt to find out the role of each language (Arabic or English) in three different fields of use, first in education system, then in work establishments, and finally inside the family and society.

At the end of this research, cause of use and its effects will be analyzed.

The research concludes that multilingualism is the overwhelming choice in accordance to what happens in other linguistic societies of the world.

Therefore, it is not acceptable that language planning ignores this reality or describes their status of being monolingual
