In recent years, there has been a growing phenomenon in Algerian society that concerns both moral and family aspects, which is called the characterization of single mothers and means that a girl gives birth without marriage.A single girl, but a pregnant woman who loses her daily status, refuses to discuss them socially, as long as there is a ready and accepted answer that is taken for granted by the following statement: the relationship between a man and a woman outside of marriage is null and void On this basis, we tried through this article to put the phenomenon of single mothers before their social realities, including family and social change and its role in the emergence of the phenomenon and the stages of the march of single mothers, as well as the various labels taken by the phenomenon through a descriptive reading of the phenomenon based on a set of statistics taken from some field studies and investigations held in Algeria.
