English Abstract
The new updated of mathematics curriculum series for elementary stage is built on learner is center the learning (student centered learning).
These updated curricula have imposed more challenges and training needs for mathematics teachers, as teachers must have the necessary educational skills to be organizer and guide to mathematics learning.
The current study aimed to determine the training needs of mathematics teachers from the viewpoint of educational supervisors in view of the requirements of the updated mathematics curriculum series for the elementary stage.
To achieve the aim of the study, the researcher used the descriptive approach and the study population is composed of all educational supervisors in the Directorate of Babylon Education for the academic year 2019/2020.
The sample of the study includes (62) educational supervisors.
The researcher prepared the research tool (questionnaire) and the questionnaire consisted of (36) items distributed on (4) parts.
The first part is planning of math lesson, the second part is class activities, and the third part is teaching strategies and methods, the fourth part is student learning assessment.
The validity and reliability of the tool have been confirmed.
After obtaining the data and processing it by means statistical, the results of the study indicated that there are a great degree for training needs in all fields of study as a whole.
The researcher attributed this result to the teachers training lack in many skills, including good planning for the mathematics lesson, and organizing class activities that raise students' motivation to learn, in addition to the teachers lacking good training majority in modern teaching methods that are consistent with the requirements of modern mathematics curricula.
One of the most important recommendations of the study is the need to provide and develop effective training programs that meet the actual needs of teachers commensurate with the requirements and goals of the updated mathematics curriculum.
