The Middle East region is witnessing economic competition between international and regional powers as an expression of a broader competition.

Some of its causes are due to economic perspectives related to market dominance, trade, investment, technology and energy, while others return to political, security and strategic aspects by employing the outputs of the economy to support major goals that may reach the level of political and military hegemony To some of these competing forces.

This scramble between the competing forces organized in the form of axes with opposing goals is reflected in the rest of the region's affairs and on the goals and interests of states in it, including Iraq, and among the most important aspects on which the repercussions of international and regional economic competition in the region are reflected is the Iraqi national security based on its vital importance.

In preserving the sovereignty and the entity of the Iraqi state, protecting the interests of the state and the people and their cohesion, ensuring their present and future and defending them, and interacting with various regional and international activities.

Hence, Iraqi decision-makers, since the change in 2003, up to the major transformations taking place in the Middle East, have doubled tasks to defend the interests of Iraq and its national security and spare it the repercussions that could result from this competition by developing alternatives and options that rise to the level of threats and devise ways to maintain security The national government at acceptable costs without slipping into a violent competition that may develop into an all-out conflict.
