From the point of view of linguists and analysts, studying the meanings of the words of the Qur’an is a necessity for translation and interpretation.

Some words have a common denominator and substitute each other, and this necessity is more important for these words.

In this article, an attempt is made to discuss Qur’anic words that have a common meaning for sin, address the naming of their names, and find out the reason for the diversity of their names in the Qur’an.

The result of the study of "the ontology of sin" in the Qur’an shows that these words indicate different concepts, including: the cause of apathy, injustice and deviation, harmful, transgression of the limit, out of obedience, rebellion and rudeness, great, abhorred, deep ugliness, rejected by the rule of reason and Sharia, lack of discipline In servitude, the minimum of sin.

Therefore, the diversification of the names of sin in the Qur’an is due to the fact that there is no word that contains all the different points in these words and the greatness of sin, and each word contains a part of the parts and aspects of sin.
