Abstract EN
The aim of the study is to examine the effectiveness of the speech training program to develop verbal communication and its impact on some social skills of newborn cochlear implant children.
The sample of current study consisted of 10 newborn cochlear implant children and their mothers, divided into two groups: the experimental group which included 5 children and the control group which included the other 5 children.
Their age ranged between (3.4: 6.3) and their intelligence ratio ranged between (90: 100).
The researcher used the following tools: stanford_Binet intelligence scale ( the fifth picture), the linguistic scale for Abu Hasibah (arabicized), social skills scale for cochlear implant children(prepared by the researcher) and a speech training programme to develop verbal communication.
The results of this study revealed the following: _ There were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group on the linguistic scale for cochlear implant children before and after the programme application.
_ There were statically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group scores in post measurement (after the programme application) on the linguistic scale for the cochlear implant children for the experimental group benefit.
_ There were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group on the social skills scale for cochlear implant children before and after the programme application in favor of the post application.
The study emphasized the necessity of audiological and verbal rehabilitation altogether for cochlear implant children and its importance for language and social skills development.
