Abstract EN

This study aimed at analyzing the relationshipbetween government spendingand economic growth in Iraq during theperiod 2004-2015.

The study discussedthe theoretical and applied relations betweenthe government expenditure andthe economic growth.

It also sought tomeasure the relationship between them, Using modern standard methods.

Themeasurement was done in two phases.

The first dealt with the Stationary Test andthe Joint Integration Test in Johansen andJuselius.

The second was to measure thecausal relationship between the estimatedvariables.

The study concluded that governmentexpenditure is one of the mostimportant components of GDP and thelargest contributor to economic growth.

Therefore, this study recommends increasinggovernment spending on edu(«cation and vocational training because itis an investment In human capital and onproduction equipment and infrastructure, which is an investment in capital formationand on research and development inprivate and public production facilities, which is an investment in technical progress.
