Abstract EN

In Muhammad ibn Idrees Al-Shafiʿi book ‘ALRisalah’, it was found that he devoted ample attention to the Arabic language and linguistics, which was manifested in a lesson on etymology connected with Sharia and its main sources (i.e.

Quran and Sunnah).

In such work, he demonstrated the link between Arabic language and Quran and Sunnah since Arabic language is the means through which Quran and Sunnah are presented.

Besides, ‘ALRisalah’ book is one of first written scientific heritage, which should be investigated to recognize the characteristics of authorship, nature of language and authors' modes in dealing with Arabic in that period.

Besides, AL-Imam Al-Shafiʿi considered Arabic as a tool that mujtahid (i.e.

an Islamic scholar who is qualified to perform ijtihad) depends on in Al-Qiyas (i.e.

one source of sharia in Islam).

Undoubtedly, AL-Shafiʿi work needs to be considered and investigated by researchers.

Moreover, the study collected the words of the scholars of Arabic language that certify that AL-Shafiʿi is a top wellknown scholar in Arabic language, which has beenconsolidated in this study by shedding light on the aspects of Philology in his book ‘AL-Risalah’
