Abstract EN

This study investigates the influence of intervals of surah Qaf on form and content of Iraqi contemporary poetry -Malaika and Abd al-Wahhab Al-Bayati.

The aim is to answer ‘how does the with an emphasis on classical pioneer poets such as Maruf al Rusafi and Muhammad Mahdi al-Jawahiri and modernist poets, Badr Shakir al- Sayyab, Nazik Al surah Qaf influence the form and content of poetry of the mentioned poets?’ and ‘for what reason did the mentioned poets used this surah?’.

This study is based on a descriptive-analytical method suggesting that the surah Qaf and its contents correspond significantly with the poets’ purposes.

Since contemporary Iraqi poets always await revolution in Iraq and the Arab world, they find the fast rhythm of its music and its strong tone depicts the return and resurrection of human beings, demonstrating the consequences of cruelty of the oppressors and the outcome of the benefactors’ goodness.

This is appropriate to illustrate the grievous atmosphere, the tragic events of the contemporary world, and the deprivations of Iraqi people who are deprived of their human right.
