Since the early Islamic era, Arwere eager for books and manuscripts.

The libraries had sprung up everywhere like mushrooms.

Their demand for writing had been unprecedented by any other people who possessed the foundations of civilization.

As the translation and writing movement flourished in the Abbasid era, many Arab scholars and orientalists came to translate books and manuscripts into other languages to highlight the status of the Arab-Islamic civilization and to enrich other civilizations.

Translation plays an important role in an intercultural dialogue.

It introduces cultures to each other, modifying their image of each other, enriching them and finally contributing to their construction.

It is a commonplace fact that translation deals not only with a language difference, but with a cultural difference as well, trying to build bridges between both cultures involved in a dialogue.

Thus translation becomes a bridge between cultures inspiring their further dialogue and making it possible.

More the translations there are, better the chances for the intercultural communication and understanding.

Translation not only introduces new texts into a target culture, but transforms and reshapes the culture and its norms, enriching the culture, on the one hand, and facilitating its intercultural potential, on the other.
