Abstract EN

The article aims to study and analyze the debate in The Turkish policy towards the Kurdish minority.

The article highlights the impact of the military repression on the development policies in the southeastern region of Turkey.

The latter leads to the economic backwardness in the region which enhances revolutions, wars and insecurity.

The analysis is based on some economic and social indicators that highlight the controversial relationship between the security and development variables.

So, the following problem is raisedءء to what extent can the existing relationship between security and development be adopted as a solution to the Kurdish issue in Turkey? As a conclusion of this article, our findings show that The Kurdish issue in Turkey is not only a security issue or a development issue; rather, it is a complex politicized issue of identity that is governed by internal, regional, and international challenges.

Thus, security and development can be approached as an initial solution to the Kurdish issue.
