Abstract EN

This study aims to present the different opportunities and challenges facing the organic farming sector in Algeria, comparing it with the pioneering experience of the Republic of Egypt.

The study found that, although there are conditions, and factors adapted to the expansion and revitalization of the organic farming sector in Algeria, the results obtained are still very low and much less than expected, due to the small area of organic agriculture compared to the traditional and the lack of awareness of consumers and farmers.

As well as a lack of government support and formal attention to the sector.

The study recommends the need to work to increase the area of organic farming in order to achieve efficient production and maximize the use of available resources and support incomes.

Regulatory frameworks should also be put in place to ensure that this sector can comply with quality requirements and international organic markets, which will make organic farming in Algeria not only a source of food consumption on the local market, but also a source of foreign exchange and export diversification.
