Abstract EN

The study aims to know the patterns and preferences of Sudanese press website readers and their ability to attract the public, and therefore the motives for choosing them, and the reasons for reluctance to do so.

The study used the descriptive analytical survey approach; with the study community represented the groups of readers subscribed to social networking sites (What's App, and Facebook), as it is the most accessible and used social networking site in Sudanese society.

The study sample is an available sample, its size has reached (164) singles, and they represent the number of individuals who responded to fill out the questionnaire, during the time period that reached a full month (from 16 march to16 April 2020).The study produced a number of important results; It turns out that the male community is the most read of journalistic websites; Also, access to these sites is not permanent, One of the important results in the reasons for choosing journalistic websites by the sample members is the presence of space to participate and express an opinion on the published topics, and to support the news video and audio clips.

In the same context, the study showed that the reasons for reluctance to read on journalistic websites is to be satisfied with following social media sites, as they are distinguished by keeping pace with events and other attractive features.

In light of these results, the paper presented a set of useful recommendations for the owners of press websites, including; Attention to the services of the readership with the diversity of information to gain their confidence, the quality of writing, and the good output of websites to keep up with events.
