Abstract EN

This research paper aims to measure the extent of the impact of corruption on economic growth in Algeria during the period from 2003 to 2019.

The study shows that there is a strong inverse correlation between the corruption index and the economic growth index in Algeria.

It was also found through an economic measurement of this relationship that there is a negative impact of the corruption index on economic growth in Algeria, as if the corruption index in Algeria increases by 1%, economic growth will decrease by 2.

2% in the short term and by 3.

7% in the long term.

This confirms that the scourge of corruption gnawing in the Algerian economy was among the most important causes of poor development in Algeria and the weak levels of economic growth recorded.

In spite of the efforts made to eradicate this scourge, corruption is still rampant in many departments and a lot of transactions and penetrates into several areas, and this affects the investment environment, opens the way for the waste of public money and prevents the achievement of development goals.
