Abstract EN

This study addressed the issue of youth participation in volunteer work by investigating a set of social and economic variables, namely: age, gender, educational level, and monthly income.

The study aimed to achieve a main objective which is to identify the roles of social and economic variables in youth participation in volunteer work inside neighborhood clubs (voluntary clubs).

The study was applied to neighborhood clubs (volunteer clubs) in the King Abdul Aziz Scout Center in the following cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Hail, and the Eastern Province.

The study relied on the social survey methodology using the sample method.

It also used a set of tools to collect field data, classify it, and analyze it, which are questionnaire that was adopted as a main tool, in addition to observation.Furthermore, the study used SPSS statistical analysis to analyze statistical data.

The study found a set of results, most important of which can be summarized as follows: 1.

There exists of a statistically-significant relationship between age and motivation to participate in volunteer activities for young people, as the study showed that age group from 20 to less than 25 years is the age group most involved in volunteer work.

The study highlighted that there is a relationship between gender and motivation to participate in volunteer work, as it became clear that young people in the age group between (15-35 years) are more involved in volunteer work than girls in the same age group.

The study indicated that educational level of youth has no significant influence on youth participation in volunteer work.

The study showed that there were no statistically significant differences between youth responses on motivation to participate in volunteer work based on monthly-income variable for the family.
