The role of corporate governance in improving the banks' financial performance : empirical evidence from listed banks in the Saudi market

Abstract EN

This study aims to determine the relationship between corporate governance and financial performance of a sample of 10 banks listed in the Saudi financial market during the period of 2008-2019.

The study used Panel– Data model, where corporate governance is an independent variable and financial performance is a dependent variable, while the company's size and leverage were used as control variables.

The study concluded that corporate governance has a remarkable impact on the financial performance of banks through the following dimensions: board size, board composition, board meetings, audit Committee, and Audit Committee meetings.
