This study aims at showing how both music and novel are temporal.

The disclosure of the novel being a narrative art to music being a rhythmic art goes beyond the immediate cultural function ( providing the readers of some artistic notions) to that of a structural function.

The presence of arts, such as music or painting, within a novel becomes a part of the narrative process itself.

We notice in " Al- Matar Yaktob Sirataho/ Rain writes its Autobiography" of the Algerian novelist Merzac Bagtach that using a musical instrument, the harpsichord, not only plays a major role akin to a protagonist but also it helps to denote time shifts ( E.

from the present to the past ).

Playing the harpsichord becomes the background of flashbacks, a narrative component as we know.
