Abstract EN

This paper aims to determine the global concepts related to cryptocurrencies with a focus on bitcoin and how it functions.

It compares bitcoin with traditional money and examines whether cryptocurrencies can be an alternative.

The results of this paper show that cryptocurrencies and bitcoin in particular, can overcome the problems that faced the creation of similar currencies, and their uses which are increasing actually.

The study shows that bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have the same advantages as traditional money and perform most of their functions, but the volatility of cryptocurrencies’ value makes it difficult to replace them.
