Abstract EN

This theoretical paper aimed to present a description of the reality of social sciences in the Arab world.

It also conducted an analytical and critical reading for this reality.

This study also tried to explain why social psychology is absent from public affairs using general research.

This study used the theoretical descriptive discipline for studying the challenges and concepts by referring to many published references, articles, and field studies.

After presenting a historical summary of this science, its origin, its philosophy, and its division between a less widespread European vision and a dominant American one, we presented the reality of social psychology in the Arab world.

The research shows the dispersal of Arab social psychologists, the scattering of their research efforts, the dependence of most of them on the schools they graduated from, and their distance from public affairs.

Additionally, Arab social psychologists are divided into three teams, a team that publishes universally incompatibility with the American publishing mechanisms, a team that publishes only locally, and a team trying to combine the universal and the local publishing levels.

The study pointed to the need for establishing an Arab approach to social psychology based on the needs of the Arab society, the relationship dialectics between the universal and the local publishing levels, stressing the importance of public research and the involvement of social sciences researchers in public affairs.
