The research revolves around the methodology of the historian Ibn Wasil (d.697 AH) in dealing with the Mongolian invasion through his book “Mafrej al-Karroub fi Akhbar Bani Ayyub.” The importance of the topic lies in the impact that the Mongol invasion had on the Muslim cities that turned it into ruin and later led to the fall of the Abbasid Caliphate and its metropolis, Baghdad, and the destruction of a prosperous civilization that had an impact on the whole world at that time.
