Abstract EN

The present study examines and focuses on the relation between anaphora resolution and local coherence.

The adopted approach is the knowledge-based approach which reduces the size of antecedent set through relying on the available linguistic knowledge.

Centring theory is one class which models the relationship among discourse participants' focus of attention, choice of referring expressions, and perceived coherence.

Crime news reports are examined as a form of communication to explicate its coherence and meaning interpretation.
