محاولات إخضاع المدارس الأجنبية في مصر لإشراف وزارة المعارف ( 1872-1948م 1288-1367ه)‎

Abstract EN

The foreign education was independent of the state, protected by the odious foreign concessions system which didn't consider governments and being obligated to its authority, people and their needs and demands.

It only paid attention to propagating its native culture and glorifying its history and civilization.

This kind of education enjoyed a great deal of the unparalleled freedom in its country.

Along with the publicity of this type of education, it was a logical act of the ministry of education to attempt to subjugate it to its authority.

The ministry exerted great efforts amiably and lawfully, so laws and codes were issued to regulate the free education and impose a sort of supervision over its institutions which include the foreign schools.

Since these schools had helped a lot of weakening the students' Arabic language – mother tongue of the state – as an advance against other foreign languages, had neglected teaching the national history, culture, and Islam in spite of the affirmed appeals for paying attention to the tuition of these subjects, forcing these schools to care for the instruction of these domains was another field of conflict between the ministry of education and the foreign schools.

This research sheds a light on the exerted attempts of the foreign schools' subjugation to the public ministry of education's direction during the period of (1872 – 1948).
