Abstract EN
The work was done in this research was an attempt to through some light on the factor, which govern the effect of planting methods and intercropping system of two crops wheat and lentil in rainfed area, on their yields and yield components.
For this purpose, experiment was conducted at moderate rain full areas, in Telkeif location (20 km northwest of Mosul city) , wheat seeds of (Triticum aestivum L.) Jehan variety certified class and lentils seed (Lens culinaris) Ninevah local variety commercial class were sown on 20/11/2019.
Using seeder (Ras alromh) which working under zero tillage system with working width 2 m and adjusting the distance between each tine 30 cm.
The experiment was designed according to a single Main factor using RCBD with 3 replicates which included three sub-factors, 1st one is intercropping system between wheat and lentils crops.
The 2nd subfactor is two planting methods linear and cross sowing , and the 3 rd -factor is weed control.
All the three subfactors with their levels were controlled under the main single factor.
It has been studied all traits of growth, yield, and its components for both crops wheat and lentil.
The results obtained from this study clearly showed that cross sowing either for the individual crop or whether they growing together significantly increased values for most of growth, yield components, and yield production traits, for example, flag leaf, chlorophyll content index, No.
of spikes, biological yield, grains yield, straw weight .m-2, and protein percentage.
Using Pallas-45 herbicide led to a relative increase in the yield, some of its components traits.
Moreover, the two levels of the intercropping system using cross sowing method enhanced the percentage of protein in wheat , and enhanced yield and its components for both crops in which the percentage of increasing the yield was above 30% of the supposing yield of the same area under single sowing of both crops.
