Abstract EN

The expression and composition component is different from the rest of the components of the Arabic language subject to being the end of educational activities.

This is so as it is an area that encourages the learner to make use of the input he got in the other components.

This also allows the teacher to measure the extent to which the learner has acquired the desired competencies and gives him an opportunity to think about supportive activities and remedial plans as well.

In addition to that, splitting this skill into two subskills (functional and creative) helps the teacher to translate that interactive relationship between school and society, and for the learner to fully integrate into the social and economic contexts.

Although there exists a special program for the expression and composition component in the textbook of the Arabic language in high school, learners are often unable to express themselves and their own worlds both through writing and speech in different communication situations.

They are not even able to produce a consistent and harmonious speech or text adding to that the absence of the creative dimension.

Therefore, their performance is characterized by expressive and linguistic deficiencies.

This situation requires a kind of diagnosis and analysis to find efficient remedies.

Such diagnosis should be directed towards searching for factors responsible for such a problem.

This is because that lesson has been transformed by teachers into a hollow package of techniques.

This makes the degree of teachers' understanding of the approved direction in that lesson subject to question.

Also, the instructional practices adopted by teachers may need some reflection to make them accountable, and to answer the limits of their fulfillment of the requirements that govern the component of expression and composition didactically, pedagogically, and epistemologically.

This may explain learners’ low ability to build a narrative or a descriptive text based on narration, etc
