The aim of the research was to find out the effect of merging the strategies of gardens of ideas and the roundhouse diagram in developing a deep understanding of mathematics and mathematical representation among preparatory stage students.

The research used the experimental approach; a sample consisted of (83) male and female students from the preparatory first grade students divided into two groups, a control group of 34 male and female students and an experimental group of 40 male and female students.

Then, the research materials and tools were prepared: a teacher's guide, students' worksheets, a test for the deep understanding of mathematics, and another for mathematical representation skills in the “Geometry and Measurement” unit.

The research tools were applied, before and after the experiment, on the research groups.

The results showed that there is a statistically significant difference at the level (0.01) between the average grades of the students of the control and the experimental groups in the post application of the deep understanding of mathematics as a whole and in all its dimensions and of the mathematical representation skills-test as a whole and in all its skills in favor of the experimental group.

The research recommended that training courses be held for mathematics teachers to train them on the use of the strategies of gardens of ideas and the roundhouse diagram and the merge between them in the teaching of mathematics and that there is a need to provide tests for a deep understanding of mathematics and mathematical representation in the various educational stages.
