Compensation is the stage after establishing the responsibility of the neighbor causing the pollution, it is the penalty that falls on the person who caused the harm to be repaired, and the purpose of compensation is to redress the damage caused to the injured and repair the damages suffered by him as a result of the harmful act by the person who caused the damage.

The decision to choose the compensation method, whether in kind or in cash, is subject to the judge's discretionary authority, based on the requests of the injured person and the circumstances of the case, and this is what is stipulated in Article 132 of the Algerian Civil Code.
