English Abstract
The aim of this paper is to synthesis an adsorbent Biochar (BC) from agricultural waste collected from tree pruning waste in college of engineering/ Mustansiriyah University.
Biochar (BC) was prepared from pyrolysis and tested to remove heavy metal Pb (II) from its aqueous solution.
Initial metal ion concentration in the range (10 to 150mg/L), pH of solution in the range (1-7), adsorbent dose range (0.01-0.3 g) and contact time varying from (10 to 150) min, were studied.
The experimental adsorption isotherms were fitted with the Langmuir and Freundlich models.
Langmuir with high correlation coefficient (R2 = 0.9935) found to be more represented to the experiments.
The results showed that the highest Pb(II) removal efficiency was (100% ) at optimization condition pH 6, at room temperature for 150 min, 0.3 g adsorbent dose and 100 mg/L metal ion concentration.
Maximum adsorption capacity was 76.34 mg from agricultural waste collected from tree pruning waste in college of engineering/ Mustansiriyah University.
