This study sheds the light on reading comprehension practices as a 21st century applications which activates students’ competencies to acquire new applicable trends.

Comprehending such practices means paying high attention to practical aspect of language and solving the practical problems.

Comprehending a written practices or sections concentrate on dealing with the required information to build students reading comprehension competency .Students are given the test of reading comprehension practices.

They are motivated to be more skilled in solving reading problems and understanding the reading questions test.

Proficient English language learners follow the cognitive approaches to be successful, and precise learners.

The present study aims at analyzing certain practices in reading comprehension test used by English Foreign Language learners in one of Baghdad private university, namely Al-Sadiq in the academic year 2019/2020 .The population of the study were 1st year students, male and female, as many as 4 classes, and samples (90 students) were selected as two classes for the experimental groups and one for the control group.

The study used quasi-experimental design.

Data collection method was taken through testing the students to answer reading comprehension practices test .The results of this study showed that Foreign Language learners face certain difficulties in answering some important sections of the prescribed textbook, Select Readings as in: before you read section, building vocabulary section , discussing and writing skill section, and words to remember section .Teacher must focus students attention on essential and beneficial practices to avoid practicing problems committed by students and to improve their performance.

Thus reading comprehension sections(practices) are successful to foster students’ awareness to acquire linguistic skills.
